Collaborative Finance

Collaborative Finance is a first principles approach to payments, finance, and money. It proceeds from a simple question:

How can we clear the most debt for the most people with the least money?

Attempting to answer this question in earnest takes one to the frontier of graph theory, cryptography, distributed systems, monetary theory, and political economy. The CoFi project is an attempt to unpack all that, to develop the understanding, infrastructure, and applications necessary for more people to clear more debt with less money.

Informal Systems is developing Obligato, a way for businesses to reduce working capital costs.

Informal is also developing an open-source platform code-named bisenzone, to power Obligato, and whose goal is to enable privacy-preserving, permissionless, and scalable access to clearing and credit.
